Autumn Smallwood is the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer at Moffitt Cancer Center, based in Tampa, FL. In this role, Autumn oversees the Conflict of Interest,Research Compliance, International Compliance and Privacy components of the Compliance Program in addition to providing the day-to-day leadership to theProgram. Additionally, she is responsible for developing risk-based work plan priorities that includes consideration of current regulatory compliance focus areasof CMS, DOJ and DHHS-OIG. Autumn previously served as the Conflict of Interest Officer and was responsible for developing and recommending COI workplans and projects, and reporting conclusions and recommendations to ensure an effective, efficient and objective approach for evaluating and improving theCOI activities at the Center. Autumn has been with Moffitt for nearly ten years. Prior to joining the Compliance Department, she spent several years conductingresearch in the Cancer Epidemiology program, focused on improving breast cancer screening and automated breast density measurement software. Autumnreceived her JD from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. While in law school, she interned with the Supreme Court of Arkansas Office of ProfessionalConduct and investigated allegations of professional misconduct and ethics violations. Autumn is Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and enjoys beingable to intertwine her legal and healthcare backgrounds in the areas of conflict of interest, privacy and research compliance.
