Daniel Spiro, J.D., is a Senior Trial Counsel with the Fraud Section of the Civil Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he has worked since 1997. In this role, Spiro has investigated and litigated fraud cases on behalf of the Government involving a range of industries. Most of his work has concentrated on enforcing the False Claims Act, though Spiro is also experienced enforcing the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act (FIRREA) and served as a member of the United States’ trial team in Phase One of the trial involving the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. Prior to working for Civil-Frauds, Spiro was an attorney for the Bureau of Consumer Protection of the Federal Trade Commission. Spiro received a law degree from Harvard University and received his undergraduate degree from Stanford.
