Daniel Meier, JD, CHC, is a partner with the Health Care & Life Sciences Practice Group of Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP. Daniel's practice focuseson advising acute, long term care and post-acute care providers and their ancillary service businesses on regulatory business issues, transactional matters andadvocacy matters. Daniel's specialty areas include: long term care ancillary services, telehealth and remote patient monitoring, LTC and specialty pharmacy,hospice, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology providers, behavioral health providers, physicians and physician organizations,dentists and dental practices, DSOs, MSOs, ambulatory surgery centers, and group purchasing organizations for health benefits. Daniel regularly counselsclients on regulatory issues, compliance, licensure, HIPAA, state privacy laws, certification, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, telemedicine and telehealthconsiderations and in the area of fraud and abuse, including, federal and state anti-kickback laws, physician self-referral laws, and the False Claims Act. Danielalso has prior experience counseling managed care clients, insurers, fiduciaries, administrators and self-funded plans in the areas of health care, managed careand ERISA. In addition, Daniel counsels clients on a number of transactional matters, including healthcare regulatory diligence, mergers and acquisitions,corporate governance, general business counseling, and negotiation and drafting of contracts, including employment agreements, license agreements, andservice agreements. Daniels experience has also involved healthcare litigation, including defending New York and New Jersey hospitals in complex, multi-million dollar False Claims Act cases in the Federal Courts of New York and New Jersey.
