Marita Janiga
Vice President, Investigations, Kaiser Permanente
Marita Janiga joined Kaiser Permanente in 2008 and is the vice president of Investigations, within the Ethics & Compliance Department. In this role, Marita oversees the National Special Investigations Unit that investigate alleged criminal activity in the areas of vendor kickbacks, conflicts of interest, contract and vendor fraud, drug diversion, medical identity fraud, employee and member misconduct, as well as contracted and non-contracted external providers for alleged fraud, waste, and abuse involving claims; and, the Hotline and Desktop Investigations Unit that triage more than 10,000 compliance cases yearly, monitor metrics, and provide data and analytical reports to Kaiser Permanente compliance partners highlighting trends and industry benchmarking, and investigate a multitude of cases that can be managed remotely. Marita also oversees a Strategy and Business Support Unit that manage internal and external audits, risk assessments, dashboards, and goal setting and monitoring. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Marita had over 20 years of federal law enforcement experience investigating criminal activity, spending the last ten years as the Special Agent in Charge of Labor Racketeering & Fraud Investigations, U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Office of Inspector General (OIG). Marita holds a bachelors degree in business administration from the University of La Verne and is a graduate of the Harvard Business Schools Executive Leadership Program and the Federal Executive Institutes Leadership for a Democratic Society. Marita lives in Orinda, California, with her husband and has two children.
