Nakis Urfi

Nakis Urfi provides thought leadership in the areas of Ethical AI Governance, ESG, and Compliance & Ethics. Nakis has presented internationally and was featured on the cover of the Compliance Today magazine in 2024. He is currently Senior Manager, Provider Relations & Regulatory Compliance at Abbott. He was the Compliance Officer & ESG Leader at Babylon, a global digital health company that provided AI and digital health products, telehealth, and value based care services. Nakis has worked in various healthcare capacities throughout his career including contracting as a federal regulator and consultant to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), chief compliance officer, privacy officer, and healthcare attorney. Previously, Nakis audited health plans in CMS Program Audits, successfully led a completion of a corporate integrity agreement with the OIG, and has developed compliance, risk management, and ESG programs. Nakis is an active member of the Health Care Compliance Association, and is certified in Healthcare Compliance and in Healthcare Privacy Compliance. He holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Houston Law Center as well as a MPH and BS from the University of Texas.
